I stand with Jesus [& Chick Fil A].

Today thousands will be supporting Chick Fil A restaurants across America.

---I will be one of them.

Over the past couple of weeks there has been a lot of strife over Dan Cathy's stance on gay marriage.

Many accuse him of being a bigot, many accuse him of being intolerant, many accuse him of being small minded.

Whatever your conclusion is, I am here to tell you that Cathy stands with good company.
-Because he is standing with Jesus-

Several times Jesus affirmed and reaffirmed that marriage is to be between a man and a woman.
Therefore, every time you fight for gay marriage, you are standing in direct opposition to the One that originated the institution of marriage.

With this in mind, let me get to the heart of this issue. It is important to realize that today is not about chicken, and it is not even about gay marriage.
-Today is about World Views.

See, Man does not have the right to redefine this issue. I heard a quote a few weeks ago that I think applies in this situation. "God has created man in his own image. and ever since, man has been returning the favor." Meaning, we have wrongly switched roles with our Creator. We think that God should bow to our views, our desires, our will. Please cast your pride off, and realize that it works the other way.
---------------------The created bow their knees to the Creator.

Furthermore, I find it funny that people want to bring up the fact that Chick-fil-A might lose some customers over Cathy's stance. Whether the company does or not; it's not as important as obedience to God and his Word. In my estimation, a person standing on the Truth is always in the majority anyway.
And besides, money is not as important as pleasing the One that gives you breathe.

As I said in the beginning of this post, I will be at Chick-fil-A today. Not just to eat a ridiculously good sandwich, but I will be there with cold bottles of water ready to hand out to anyone that has questions and anyone that is spewing hatred.

I go the extra mile because the world never rests. Have you noticed that sin never takes a day off?
--I say, "Light up the Darkness."

I go the extra mile, because I follow in the footsteps of the One I support.
--Which is not necessarily Chick Fil A.

It is Jesus.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Beautiful post and very well written. I appreciated all of it and I'm glad people are standing up for those that living "HIS" word. I especially liked this part, "Several times Jesus affirmed and reaffirmed that marriage is to be between a man and a woman.
Therefore, every time you fight for gay marriage, you are standing in direct opposition to the One that originated the institution of marriage."
Thank you for posting!!!!

I am not an authority on Chick-Fil-A, mostly because I have never eaten there (and never will), long before this controversy.
But, Jesus- if he so enunciated a view- was discussing RELIGION. Cathy was discussing politics. Since he invoked the fact that wrath of G0d would visit the US. And, Jesus did not believe in mixing religion and politics, by the way.
And, ChickFilA discriminates. Here's a link to the REAL facts

"While the traditional view is that the Bible sets standards, and cultures either follow these standards or don't, the Bible itself shows us that cultural norms and biblical positions shifted in tandem. ... It does not mean that God is a pushover; it shows, if anything, a God who will engage people in the world in which they live."

Christy, very well said.

This is why proper hermenutics is key in understanding the issues you raise.

Roy,

The Huffington Post... really.

Nice try.

BTW:
The idea that Jesus never mixed religion and politics is outlandish.

Jesus stood before every political leader, religious leader, poor person, rich person, man & women and anyone in between and told them to "bow their knee to Him and take up their cross daily to follow Him."

Following Him means following Him.
ANYWHERE.

Everywhere.

Being God, He can demand that...

While it is true that the Bible sets standards, and cultures either follow or they don't, this doesn't change the fact that God's standards never change.

Yes, God engages people in the world in which they live, but He wouldn't have to do so if people chose to live according to His standards.

As I see it, the real problem is that people generally choose not to believe the Bible and they reject God's plan and purpose for their lives, this severely limits their worldview.

Until they straighten out this foundational issue, they will never be able to understand that they must abide by God's rules when, in fact, they are demanding that God change His rules according to their desires.

In a nutshell, this whole issue is simply about rejecting God.
